RFID SOLUTIONS
AN INTRODUCTION
RFID TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Solutions are revolutionizing how businesses manage inventory, track assets, and streamline operations. These systems use electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects.
CORE COMPONENTS:
- RFID Tags: Smart labels or transponders with an integrated circuit and antenna. They store and transmit data to readers.
- RFID Readers: Devices that emit radio waves to activate tags and read the data transmitted back. Can be fixed or mobile.
- Antennas: Connected to readers, they convert RF energy into electromagnetic waves to communicate with tags.
- Software: The brain of the operation, collecting and processing data, and integrating with other systems (ERP, WMS).
How it Works (Simplified):
A reader sends out radio waves. When an RFID tag comes within range, its antenna picks up these waves. The tag then powers up (either passively from the reader's energy or actively from its own battery) and transmits its unique ID and other stored data back to the reader. The reader captures this data and sends it to the RFID software for processing.
